Reflecting the architecture of Maharashtra, the facade is an impression of royal palace of the great Chhatrapati Shahaji Maharaj

The project involves the construction of a new domestic terminal building and ATC Tower cum Technical Block cum Fire Station among others. The Kolhapur airport is also proposed to be used as a parking space for several major airlines due to the shortage of space at Mumbai airport. The façade is an Impression of the royal palace of the great Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj and the ancient culture of Kolhapur. Though the elements in the façade are taken from traditional architecture, yet the overall design style remains modern and contemporary. The terminal is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities to handle a footfall of 300 passengers per hour, housing 10 check-in counters, 9 ticket counters, VIP lounge, comfortable sitting facility for the flyers, dedicated areas for kiosks and eateries, 2 conveyer belts and ample parking space to facilitate passengers
